Peter Legge
I have loved travel and photography since I was a young man with a Kodak Brownie camera taking pictures in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the many photogenic people and places in my native Maine. I have made many pilgrimages to the US Southwest and enjoyed several years in The Bay Area of California. My travels have also included wonderful excursions to Mexico and Europe where I have not only indulged my love of the land and the people but my passion for art history as well.
My goal in conducting photo tours is not to impress and or intimidate participants with my own photography skills but rather to learn your interests and expectations of a travel adventure and photography goals. Working to teach and inspire is my job. I have no interest nor should you in indulging tour directors self-admiration and the development of hero worship. I am interested in giving you a broad array of subject matter and encouraging you to translate your passion into artistic expression. I strive to present environments which inspire images that explain the people, land and culture that you experience while strengthening a technical and organizational foundation that will serve you well no matter where your future travels and assignments may lead.
Having participated in many travel and technical workshops, I have been most rewarded by leaders presenting me with great subject matter facilitating my storytelling of a people, culture and environment.

Although I have won awards for my work in photography including (Fresh Eyes – Photographic Talent of The Southwest – Phippen Museum 2006)
and though my passion for the work inspired two daughters to obtain degrees and careers in photography, I see my role as inspiring and helping participants by finding great subject matter to fuel your passion and further your talents and goals. In addition, I supplemental my photo tours with an optional technical workshop the day after the end of the tour in Lightroom4 where you can bring your images from the tour and review editing techniques that will bring out the best in your images. I will also be available during the course of the tour if you would like a review of your work (but will not be subjecting you to group judgments about your efforts).
I look forward to traveling and working with you on your journey for exciting travel and a body of work reflecting your passion for expertly documenting people, places and things.
Best wishes,
Peter
